A Vintage Pair Yellow Gold Flower Earrings Set With Vibrant Crystal Opals

Discovered in a Glendale, California estate, this vintage pair of 14k yellow gold opal stud earrings features a notably vibrant pair of Australian crystal opals, decorated by a delicate, lightweight floral filigree design that measures 0.4" long by 0.33" wide—a motif quite popular and widely-produced during the late 1960s and early 1970s "Flower Power" counterculture movement, where nature-inspired Art Nouveau jewelry themes returned from earlier in the 20th Century.

Opal qualities vary dramatically across such examples; likely sourced from Coober Pedy, these crystal opals offer rolling green flashes with subtle blue undertones.  One opal has eye-visible natural sand inclusions along its edge.

The solid 14k yellow gold butterfly push-backs included are mismatched in both size and style—original to the estate that they were sourced from.  Both backs fit snugly and work well with the posts' safety notches.
