Sourced from a Burlington, Wisconsin collector and professionally refurbished in Anaheim, California, this exceptional Australian crystal opal men's ring lights up with a vivid green play-of-color; quiet until the light hits it from one of its many optimal viewing angles, the natural opal comes to life, exploding with green that shifts to cyan and blue. The oval shaped opal's size offers plenty of surface area to see the magic, measuring approximately 15.74mm long by 11.20mm, or 0.6" by 0.4".
Crafted from solid 14k white gold and weighing a hefty 12.18 grams in total, the ring itself is attributed to Australia's renowned FlashOpal, per the collector who purchased the ring in Pandemic-era 2020. It is believed—though not known for certain—that the opal's body tone may be enhanced through a setting technique; crystal opals are often set in black epoxy or on top of a black onyx slice to darken their body tones and enhance contrast in play-of-color. Some closed-back mountings can also create this effect without need for secondary material.
The opal is in excellent condition and shows no signs of wear; visible streaks seen in the opal are color-bar formations that are part of the opal's natural pattern.
