Measuring a petite two-thirds of an inch in total length from the top of its diamond-accented design, this platinum opal pendant makes a quiet, intimate statement. In low light, the 1.72ct Australian black opal appears dark and mysterious; when viewed in the light, gentle brushed greens and blues softly glow across its surface, seen best by those who are close.
Its deep N3 body tone carries a slight, pleasing translucency, noticed only from certain angles under certain lights—a trait only observed in crystal and semi-crystal opals. As a result of this, occasional flashes of orange and red can be caught not from the colors across the opal's surface, but from within the body of the stone itself.
Fourteen natural round brilliant cut diamonds weighing a combined total of 0.16ct with an average VS2 clarity form an asymmetrical halo design around the opal, leading up to the top of the pendant's bail. The back of the pendant is inscribed with the hallmarks "Pt900", "1.72", and "0.16", indicating the platinum's purity and gemstone carat weights.
Sourced from a Japanese estate through OpalPop's Osaka partner, the pendant is in excellent condition with only light surface wear visible along its back side. The pendant's design appears contemporary opposed to vintage, its hallmarks consistent with Japanese manufacture.
