Petunia | Modified Victorian Pink Tourmaline & Opal Flower Ring in 9k Gold, c.1880s

Discovered in the collection of a Clarkson, Georgia antique dealer, this late Victorian era opal ring features a delicate floral cluster design in British 9k gold.  Six round opals believed to be of Hungarian origin play with subtle green and blue colors encircle a center stone.  Originally, this center stone was a damaged peridot; upon joining OpalPop's collection, we opted to replace the peridot with a round pink tourmaline, the modern secondary October birthstone to opal.

The ring was professionally cleaned, polished, and checked by our Anaheim, California-based jeweler.  Multiple prongs holding the opals appear to be worn or missing, though the stones remain secure.  One opal is visibly chipped, with the chip hidden beneath a prong.  No visible hallmarks remain inside of the ring's shank; the gold has been thoroughly tested with nitric acid.
