An Antique Opal & Rose Cut Diamond Ring from the Late Victorian Era

Cast from what is now-patinaed 9k yellow gold, this English three-stone ring is an antique Victorian Era find from the late 1800s.  It features three round gemstones that are vertically stacked in a high-profile prong-set mounting—what is presumed to be a colorful Hungarian light opal softly shimmers with reddish pinks between two rose cut diamonds.

The term "rose cut" refers to gemstones displaying a flat, cleaved bottom and faceted top; this was a technique commonly used before modern stone cutting techniques were developed in the 1900s.  No visible hallmarks remain inside of the ring's shank; the gold has been thoroughly tested with nitric acid.
