A Sterling Silver Australian Opal Doublet Necklace with a Blue Topaz-Accented Drop

Custom-fitted with a hand-textured sterling silver drop mounted with four round blue topaz accents, this Australian opal doublet pendant measures a total length of 1.75" from the top of the bail to the bottom of the opal's bezel set mounting.  The unique drop design allows the opal a special degree of free-flowing movement; flashes of every color make their appearance against the opal's enhanced black N4 body tone, particualrly when moved in the sunlight.  In low-light settings, teal colors are most dominant.

Discovered in an Ocala, Florida estate, the opal is not perfect—small chips can be seen along its surface when viewed closely under reflected light.  These appear to have been caused during the pendant's original manufacture, though it is also possible that the pendant was once a ring and later converted to be worn around the neck where its stone is better-protected.
