Crafted in Japan around the 1980s, Diana is a substantial platinum cocktail ring centered by a 5.72-carat natural Australian crystal opal. Its scale is immediately noticeable, but the setting is what gives the piece its authority: more than ten grams of solid .900 platinum rise into a high, intricately worked gallery, with scrolling filigree flowing outward into diamond-set shoulders. The construction feels substantial and deliberate without losing the elegance expected of vintage Japanese fine jewelry.
The opal measures approximately 17.33mm by 13.57mm and has a translucent N7 crystal body tone. Green dominates its play-of-color, accompanied by blue-green, teal, blue, and smaller flashes of yellow that can warm toward orange in stronger light. Its pattern is distinctly directional. Broad areas of color can become intensely saturated at favorable angles, while other portions of the stone return to quieter transparent crystal as the ring moves. That contrast gives the opal a changing appearance rather than a uniformly bright face.
Ten natural round brilliant-cut diamonds frame the opal, five to either side, with a combined weight of approximately 0.22 carat and an average clarity of VS2.
