Hefty in the hand and solidly-made, this masculine sterling silver opal pendant boasts a notable brutalist design. Thick, textured gold-sheet accents that thoroughly test as solid 18k yellow gold are cleanly bonded to the silver in two separate locations: the bottom of the pendant—forming a sharp visual contrast to the free-flowing silver above—and in the pendant's large bail, which is suited for up to a 6mm-thick chain or cord.
Handcrafted in the Bali, Indonesia workshop of the widely-recognized Sedona, Arizona jewelry design house, Starborn Creations, the pendant features an Australian opal doublet with brilliant green play-of-color with blue undertones over an N5 body tone, giving the appearance of a solid boulder opal. A round amber cabochon sits bezel-set next to the opal, its orange tone complementing the warmth of the 18k gold that accents the silver.
The pendant was discovered in an Ocala, Florida estate and appears to be in excellent, original condition. A small, eye-visible pit exists in the gold sheet bonded to the pendant's bail—this appears to be a characteristic of the pendant's manufacture and not the result of wear.
