An Antique English Portrait Pendant Made From Butterfly Wing & Crushed Opal

Manufactured in the 1920s by Shipton and Company in Birmingham, England, this beautiful work of art portrays a painted woman with a dress made from colorful crushed Australian opal.  Behind the woman, silhouettes of birds are seen flying through a dark night sky, illustrated by iridescent blue butterfly wing.  The back of the piece is patented, representing the company's proprietary painting technique.  Brown discoloration can be seen around the top edges of the butterfly wing, as well as the bottom right of the woman's dress.

Original 21” sterling silver cable-style chain included.

Avoid getting this piece wet.  Please note that due to the butterfly wing material, this piece does not compliment a vegan lifestyle.
