Introducing Elizabeth,
An Edwardian Opal & Diamond Halo Engagement Ring
For just a moment, take a step back through time with us, to an era before the pandemic. We don't mean the COVID-19 pandemic; it's now the early 1900's, and the words "Spanish Flu" have long yet to cross a friend's or family member's lips. Those around you are completely unaware of something that you already are: the beautiful opal ring currently sitting on that lovely lady's finger will go on to survive through two pandemics, two world wars, The Great Depression, and many economic recessions. It survives the the frenzied 2010's era of "Cash for Gold", and it will ultimately still sit in its near-original condition, waiting for the right lovely lady of the next millennium to find it and fall in love with it.
-
Cast in brightly-finished 18 karat yellow gold, this dainty Edwardian opal ring carries all of the charm from the turn-of-the-century era. A halo of vibrant Old European Cut diamonds surround the oval cut Australian opal, creating a lovely juxtaposition between the two stone varieties. While subtle indoors, the opal's fire plays gentle flames of reddish pink, green, yellow, and orange colors in the sunlight.
-
The piece came to us through an estate auction with little information about it. The ring appeared to be in excellent condition, though the opal itself showed moderate signs of wear. Our jeweler was able to restore the front of it beautifully with a simple polishing, bringing its color play brightness up from 1 to 2.5 of 5. The backside of the opal shows a conchoidal fracture focused in on one of the photos, but this is not seen from the front, nor does it affect the opal's structural integrity. Instead, it serves as a reminder that the piece has been loved by someone, or even someones, over the course of the century.

The ring's default size is 6.25 US, and it can be made smaller or larger; for sizing inquiries, please feel free to reach out to us any time via our contact page.
